A new report released in June 2025 by the European Biogas Association reveals both progress and challenges for the EU biomethane sector. While production capacity and investment continue to rise—reaching 7 bcm annually in Q1 2025 and €28 billion in committed investments—the pace of growth is slowing, leaving a clear gap between ambition and delivery. Current national projections fall short of meeting the REPowerEU 35 bcm target for 2030, underscoring the urgent need for stronger action.
At ACI’s Future of Biogas Europe Summit, taking place in Seville, Spain, on 26th & 27th November 2025, industry leaders will gather to discuss how the sector can bridge this gap.
