Dr Angela Wilkinson, Secretary General and CEO, World Energy Council commented: “For a century the World Energy Congress has to sought to breathe and refresh common sense into and progress inclusive change making on energy developments and transitions. We have always convened diverse energy needs and interests for common good. In today’s polarised world the need to pursue these aims has never been more important or challenging. The World Energy community is the best hope for connecting the dots between security and sustainability and social equity, and aligning change makers across regions and at all levels of society. That is what we’ll be doing at the Rotterdam World Energy Congress next month under the theme of Redesigning Energy for People and Planet.

“Major port cities like Rotterdam are playing a vital role in connecting global value chains, industries and diverse local communities. In the journey to net zero and beyond, we are accelerating decarbonisation with justice and resilience with cities and others committed to making faster, fairer and more far reaching energy transitions happen. I am returning to my family’s roots to see for myself the new shoots of progress underway in Rotterdam in advance of the Congress.”
